Netflix (UK) is my go to streaming site when I wish to relax and watch a good movie, because, unlike Amazon Prime, it is accessible to me with subtitles in all the movies it has in the catalogue. At least those I have seen so far.
I have missed Gunpowder with Kit Harington and Liv Tyler, when it was premiered on the BBC, so I was excited to see the series announced on Netflix. I sat down for what I hoped will be a perfect movie to watch on Saturday evening, except…..it was not, simply because the series are not accessible on Netflix to me and millions of viewers who rely on subtitles.
What makes it even worse, the Gunpowder series were produced by the BBC and they would have subtitles file together with the movie.
This is unacceptable and unfair, as subtitles are not only a nice feature, but a necessity for millions of viewers who are deaf or hard of hearing. Subtitles also benefit people who have different accents, learning difficulties, or speak other languages. Moreover, I pay the same subscription fee as other Netflix users, and I expect to have the same access to the content that you offer.
I do not understand why Netflix would remove the subtitles from Gunpowder, when they were already available on the BBC.
Netflix, do the right thing and put the subtitles on Gunpowder.
